Apparel trade group spent $146,240 lobbying in 1Q

The American Apparel and Footwear Association spent $146,240 in the first quarter lobbying federal officials on issues ranging from online privacy to tariffs, according to a recent disclosure form.

That was lower than the $168,000 the trade group, based in Arlington, Va., spent in the fourth quarter of 2010 but above the $136,700 it spent in 2010's first quarter. Other issues included lobbying on legislation covering child labor, design piracy and consumer product safety, according to a report the group filed April 15 with the House clerk's office.

The association lobbied Congress and the Environment Protection Agency, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Trade Commission, Government Accountability Office, the Departments of Transportation, Homeland Security, the of Office of the Secretary of Defense, U.S. International Trade Commission and other agencies.
